Tikehau Spotlight: Ninamu Resort

Tikehau is a pink sand atoll with turquoise waters and some of the best beaches in French Polynesia. Tikehau’s oval-shaped lagoon is 17 miles long and almost continuously surrounded by a coral reef. And there on the southwest corner of the Tikehau atoll sits Ninamu Resort on its own private luxury atoll. It is about 200 miles from the main French Polynesia island of Tahiti.

Ninamu means “blue” in Tahitian and there’s plenty of that blue water to relax and look at all day long. If you are an outdoor enthusiast that likes to dive, surf or fish and wants a luxury escape, Ninamu is that little all-inclusive slice of heaven for you.

The Ninamu is an all-inclusive experience includes:

  • Bungalow accommodation
  • All meals and snacks
  • Unlimited access and use of all watercraft
  • Excursions around Tikehau Atoll
  • Return transfer to Tikehau Airport

With seven hand-crafted bungalows, Ninamu oozes character with a natural look of rustic luxury. The resort used locally sourced materials in its unique island design. And no two bungalows are alike. Accommodations can hold large families, groups of friends, couples, and solo travelers.

Adventurers will fall in love with the resort and island because Tikehau is said to have the most fish of any atoll in French Polynesia, so there are amazing sights to see under the water during diving and snorkeling adventures.

Many of the activities at Ninamu Resort are included with the price of a stay. There is a variety of equipment for activities like atoll exploration, paddle boarding, kayaking, kite surfing, windsurfing, sailing, snorkeling, and fishing. Ninamu makes one lagoon excursion by boat each day. You will also get to explore the Tuheiava Pass, which is the main pass in and out of the lagoon of the atoll.

A trip in the morning could be going snorkeling with the manta rays and then visiting a local organic farm. If the resort does an afternoon excursion, it may include fishing and snorkeling and then a cruise back to Ninamu with a perfect sunset view and beverages. Many travelers opt into the excursions from the resort but of course there’s always the alternative of just relaxing on the beautiful pink sand beach on your own private day bed at the resort.

Meals are fresh and organic at Ninamu. Enjoy organic cuisine and stunning views at the main lodge area during your time at this tropical adventure paradise. Breakfast includes homemade bread, locally produced organic honey, yogurts, jams, bacon, sausages and eggs cooked to order. Lunches and dinners range from fresh caught mahi mahi, yellow fin, wahoo, bonito, poultry or pork. The produce, pork, and poultry are sourced from Eden Isle, a 100% organic, family run-farm on other side of the Tikehau atoll.

With the adventure activity options, the beautiful pink sand beaches of Tikehau and amazing organic cuisine, you will want to escape to paradise permanently at Ninamu.
