Top 5 Beaches in Tahiti

Much of French Polynesia is comprised of warm, turquoise lagoons and coral reefs with many shades of blue, stretched as far as the eye can see. Here’s a few of our favorite beaches to add to your bucket list. You might as well go visit all of them!

  1. Matira Beach, Bora Bora

Besides being one of the most romantic islands in the world, Bora Bora is home to one of the best beaches in the world, Matira Beach. This is paradise at its finest. When you step foot on the fine, white powdery sand, you will see that the beach stretches as far as the eye can see with peaceful swaying palm trees. And you can see gorgeous views of Raiatea and Tahaa from the eastern side of the beach.

  1. Les Sables Roses, Rangiroa

Tucked away in a remote nook of French Polynesia’s tiny motus of Rangiroa in the eastern corner, you will find a unique and deserted pink sand beach known as “The Pink Sands” or Les Sables Roses. While Rangiroa is basically a necklace of tiny dots of motus, there’s tons for the eye to explore and gawk at. Don’t forget the great snorkeling and fish to spot!

  1. Tikehau Beach, Tikehau

Another pink sand wonder is located on another very remote island in French Polynesia is Tikehau Beach.  It is located on Tikehau – a tiny atoll near Rangiroa. Both of these islands are well-known for their amazing coral pink sand. Spend some time away from it all exploring the lagoon and its marine life.

  1. Temae Beach, Moorea

For a phenomenal stretch of white sand and views of the mountains of Tahiti on the horizon, Temae Beach is your idyllic place. This beach can be found on the northeastern end of Moorea. It has great reefs to snorkel around and the shallow, warm lagoon water will make your Moorea day magical.

  1. Lafayette Beach, Tahiti

If you are into colorful sand, here’s another not-your-typical white sand beach. Here on Lafayette Beach in Tahiti, you can experience one of the several black sand beaches. Situated on the end of Matavai Bay, the sand is so soft you’ll want to stay all day.
